|03-07-2019 am| Whale and dolphin expedition Faial and Pico, Azores

It was under a flat sea and hot sun that we went exploring the north of Faial Island in a quest for Sperm whales, the largest animal on the planet with teeth!



A pod of more than 12 females, with at least two juveniles was observed calmly, as they dived and fluked one after the other heading Northwest. The sperm whale sounds were listened too as we stood next to a raft of Corys' shearwaters.







Spotted dolphins made their appearance and visited our boat. Many juveniles were present in a pod of 40-60 animals, also transiting northwest.






Finally, a good bye fluke of a large female, to remmember forever.



What a day!
