|04072020pm| Powerful sperm whales

A calm sea and big sperm whales (Physeter macrocephalus) close to #Faialisland and #Picoisland, we cannot ask for more! A group of sailor Naturalists requested special moments, and so they had!


Our experienced spotter already had sighted the sperm whales so we went straight to the location.


We saw two incredible sperm whales that spend a lot of time stopped at the surface. We just stayed there admiring and earing them breathing while collecting more images of their bodies to identify them.

After a long rest, they showed us their tails!

Mar calmo e cachalotes (Physeter macrocephalus) perto da #ilhadoFaial e #ilhadoPico, não podemos pedir melhor! Um grupo de Naturalistas velejadores pediram momentos especiais e assim os tiveram!


O nosso vigia experiente já tinha avistado cachalotes então fomos directos à sua localização.


Avistámos dois incríveis cachalotes que passaram a maior do tempo à superficíe. Ficamos com o nosso barco parado e com o motor desligado a admirar e a ouvir a respiração do cachalote enquanto recolhiamos imagens para que posteriormente os conseguissemos identificar.

Depois do descanso merecido, eles mergulharam e mostraram-nos as caudas!
