During our morning trip we were present in the release of a loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta) back in the wild, in collaboration with COSTA Project Sea Turtles in the Azores . Mariana, the turtle, was found floating belly up near São Miguel island and was transported to Faial island. The COSTA team was then in charge of the rehabilitation and satellite tagging. Today, this 10-12 year old turtle was ready to return to the ocean!
We were also able to spot Sperm whales (Physeter macrocephalus), Bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus), Loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta), Cory's Shearwater (Calonectris borealis) and Common tern (Sterna hirundo).
