|20240730| Whales and dolphins for the brave sailors in the North Atlantic

We recorded cetacean numbers, behavior and photo-ID, counted Portuguese man-o-war aggregations and sizes

During our morning trip, we were able to spot Sperm whales (Physeter macrocephalus) and after analyzing the pictures we understood that the two baleen whales that we saw were Bryde's whale (Balaenoptera edeni) and not Sei whales. We also saw Atlantic spotted dolphins (Stenella frontalis), Cory's Shearwater (Calonectris borealis) and Common tern (Sterna hirundo).


During our afternoon trip, we were able to spot Sperm whales (Physeter macrocephalus) socializing, Atlantic spotted dolphins (Stenella frontalis), and Common tern (Sterna hirundo).
