|31-05-2019 am| Big bull and resident dolphins in the Azores

The animals were elusive and the weather was not as good as we wish. Despite these two uncontrollable factors we could see 3 different species of the Azorean resident cetaceans: Bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus), a big male Sperm whale (Physeter macrocephalus) and Common dolphins (Delphinus delphis).

Sperm whale and Pico Island

We had to go far away towards São Jorge Island to find a 14m long Sperm whale (a Big Bull) between this island and Pico Island.

Head and back of the Sperm whale

The animal was shallow diving and after seeing the Bull a few times we went to find friendly common dolphins.
